For 20 years, Supportive Housing has been assisting individuals with disabilities to find and/or maintain independent housing in the community of their choice.  Supportive Housing Staff assist some individuals with finding apartments, preparing to move, settling into new apartments, and linking them to low income programs such as LIHEAP, CAP, Section 8 etc .  Once an individual is settled, we visit individuals in their apartments to work on their chosen goals.  For example, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and organizing.  We also assist individuals in the community with doctor appointments, mobility training, recertification processes, socialization, and finding employment or volunteer positions.  We strongly encourage community involvement and almost half of our individuals are currently working, going to school or volunteering on a regular basis.  We also provide a variety of socialization activities each month (usually on the weekends) to help get people out, utilize community resources and interact with their community.  We take advantage of free or low cost admissions to museums, Pirate games, zoo, movies, and local community events such as Lenten fish fry, fairs etc.
