From the Board President and Executive Director
We are pleased to provide you with the Residential Care Services, Inc. 2016-2017 annual report. We hope you find the information useful and informative.
It should be noted that on January 1, 1981 Hasina House began operations and was then incorporated as Residential Care, Inc. on March 11, 1985 a unit of the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). And finally on January 1, 2001, RCS became its own corporation. On January 1, 2018, RCS will celebrate 35 years of serving both youths and adults.
At Residential Care Services, Inc. our mission is to enhance the quality of life for persons in mental health recovery by providing individualized community based support while promoting dignity, health and wellness.
During these past years, RCS has served and assisted hundreds of individuals on their recovery journey. SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) defines recovery as “a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.”
Individuals accomplish their recovery by utilizing 10 guiding principles: Hope, Person Driven, Many Pathways, Holistic, Peer Support, Relational, Culture, Strength/Responsibility Based, Addresses Trauma and Respect.
We assist individuals on their recovery journey with a very dedicated and capable staff and Board of Directors who inspire hope and opportunity to those individuals living in one of our programs.
For the 13th consecutive year, there was no increase in our funding. This is now becoming very critical not only for RCS but many other human service agencies. Many agencies have had to reduce services or close programs due to this issue. RCS has maintained many of the services because of the hard work and dedication of our staff. We continue to closely monitor costs but without adequate funding, services and supports may need to be reduced in the near future.
With all the above being noted, we do celebrate the many successes of the individuals served and their personal growth and recovery. It is a journey that we are proud to be part of on a daily basis.
We again thank our community partners and supporters in helping us assist individuals with their recovery journey.
